The term refers to a phobia experienced during public speaking/performance. Symptoms includes excitement, nervousness, anxiety of failure, even vomiting and diarrhea prior to e.g. during the premiere performance of a theatrical production. Previously stage lighting was only ignited for the first public premiere of a play, which is where the German "Light Fever" originated.
