American Actor and Acting Coach famous for creating the "Method" technique and founding the renown Actors' Studio in New York in 1948. the Actors Studio produced Stars including Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Rod Steiger, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Dustin Hoffman, Harvey Keitel, Robert de Niro, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp and many more. In the 1920's Strasberg saw a performance of the Moscow Art Theatre and Constantin Sergeyevich Stanislavski when it toured the USA. Stanislavski teaching of the art of acting and his modern realistic acting approach was taken up by Strasberg and developed further into the Method technique known today. Method remains one of the most famous and influential techniques whereby actors try to create in themselves the thoughts and emotions of their characters in an effort to develop more true to life performances. The Method is taught at Lee Strasberg Institute locations in New York and Los Angeles.
