A continuity error describes a film error where within a continuous scene, a prop for example suddenly might be missing or be replaced or changed, actors or lighting might have been different thereby rendering the continuity of the film illogical. For example, an actor uses a left hand in one scene and then the right hand in another or a half-burned candle that in the next take is again full length.
