The acronym V.O. is used to denote Voice Over narration in a screenplay to convey the unspoken thoughts/dialogue of a character or omniscient narrator. O.S. or O.C. off screen or off camera are similar devices indicating that the character speaking dialogue in the film is doing so out of the frame or field of the camera.
