Ellipsis/ Elliptical Storytelling
In linguistics, ellipsis (from the Greek: élleipsis, "omission") or elliptical construction refers to the omission from a clause of one or more words that would otherwise be required by the remaining elements. Based on the concept of ellipsis as a syntactic construction, elliptical storytelling in film refers to the conscious omission of certain elements of a story, in order to let the viewer „fill in the gaps“ based on the context provided, or by the use of his own fantasy.
