Green screen technology is part of the CGI (computer generated imagery) or digital compositing system used to composite a live action scene and a computer generated or other background image. Blue Screens are commonly used on Television weather reports for example where the digital weather map is projected behind the weather reporter. Bright green is used because it is monochromatic and an uncommon color.
