Glossary: Sound (see also Sound)

Sound is very important to the images in a film comprising the sounds generated by actions within a scene. In addition to Dialog, Sound may include footsteps, breathing, the creaking of a leather jacket, the buzzing of a fly or some other noise. During shooting, absolute silence must prevail, so the Sound man can record only intended sounds. Especially when shooting at an outdoor Location, noise is a common problem; the filming can Take a long time as pauses for passing aircraft or noisy children out of earshot are common on Location for example
