Glossary: Teaser and or Cold Open

In film and television the Teaser refers to 1) a short promotional film for a movie (not to be confused with a trailer) 2) when a movie or television play jumps directly into the story before the opening titles roll; also called a cold opener. In both cases, the Teaser is designed to make the audience curious, and in TV make sure they stay tuned to the program
