Glossary: Actor

An actor is a person who through the utilization of language, facial expressions and gestures / pantomime can transform themselves into something other than who they are - usually a different person - embodying another individual in the flesh. A professional actor is regularly engaged in this technique of transformation within an institutional framework (namely, a theater or in front of a camera), with an artistic criteria and on the basis of extensive practice or even special training and according to prescribed direction (role play, script) issue.
