Instructions the director gives to the actors during a film shoot. The actors have to rely on "direction from the director regarding how a scene should be played. The director also decides what takes a good, when to retake a scene and when to cut (stop the scene) as well as when the scene is successfully played at which time he says "print", which means to add it to the rushes. Action and stage directions are also part of the screenplay. Typical instructions might be for example: "Bianca is close to tears" or "Bruno dreamily looks out a window."
