Make-up should enhance, accent and support the actor's ability to mimic the character being played. Aside from basic make-up, hair is also the responsibility of the Hair and Make-up Department on a film Crew/Set. Fake noses or other prosthesis as well as realistic looking wounds are also part of the Make-Up person's skill Set. It could be as simple as applying face powder, which is used to prevent an actor's skin from shining on a lighted Set.
