A crane Shot offers camera angle with a very broad range of perspective options from a basic horizontal angle to bird's eye to an worm's eye view even. Crane shots are most often used for landscape overviews or epic scenes features mobs/masses of extras.
Cranes can be used traditionally, i.e. a camera operator on the crane seated behind the mounted camera or the camera can be operated by remote control.
Note -- A crane Set up without a human operator is also called a Jib in English, whereas a crane Shot in English usually implies an operator riding with the mounted camera.
