Glossary: Back light(ing)

Back-lighting technique is when the light source is directly behind the object being filmed and in the direction of the camera. This can create the risk of underexposure. But when done correctly with backlight compensation, or a lens hood, an intentionally romantic atmosphere, for example can be achieved.
