Glossary: Format

Standard for the width and height of a projected motion picture. There are various film formats (aspect ratios): Standard 1.33:1, Widescreen Format (Europe) 1,66:1 and Cinemascope 2.35:1. The formats are created with the use of specialized camera lens apertures or film projector lenses.
