The actors' speaking parts in the text of a play or script.

Greek - dialogos - rhetoric. Verbal interaction between a minimum 2 persons. The screenplay formatting for dialogue is as in a Theatre text (Character Name and text to be spoken directly underneath) with Action or Stage Direction.
