This describes the person responsible for Editing and splicing the film sequences together. The Editor also helps the Director make creative decisions on the continuity, tone, pacing, music and other aspects of the storyline.
Usually the Final Cut or last edited version of a film is determined by the film studio, however some more prominent Directors have the honor of the Final Cut.
Though "Cutter" sounds like an English word (meaning knife or carpet knife) this is a disambiguation, which would not be understandable to the English speaker as Film Editor, like the German word "Handy" which unlike the English refers to a mobile phone. "Cutter" in the German sense does however refers to the cutting of the film strip.
