Glossary: Budget

The entire financial resources organized for the production of a film.

Available Budget covers all the production costs accounted for in detail. The Budget comprises monies from all possible financial arrangements from bank loans to government and private film grants. These investments are often advanced on a "guaranteed minimum" distribution deal for the exhibition of the film as prescribed in the production business plan.

In some cases, distribution rights are sold in advance of production to raise capital.
