Analyzing the commercial potential of a film in order to market it. Commercial valuation is one the chief responsibilities of the Film Producer. There are different markets for different types that are taken into account in an evaluation procedure. These include distribution in Cinemas, DVDs sales and rentals, TV broadcasting as well as the sale of the international sales and distribution rights. Distribution usually follows a strict value chain corresponding to scheduled release dates and venues: 1) Cinemas, 2) International, 3) Pay TV, 4) DVD rental and sales etc. Internet distribution channels are now also become an important factor.
